Unsound Festival 2017 is on!

With Unsound Krakow starting today out festival office will open at midday, located in Pałac Krzysztofory, with the entrance from ul. Szczepańska 2. Be sure to exchange your pass for the festival wristband and an ID badge here - it’s the only place to do so. The office will be open from 12:00 to 18:00 every of the festival. It’s also the place to purchase individual tickets to events. Check the event pages on our website schedule for the official status in terms of what’s available.

Also today in the office, the Massolit bookstore opens, offering books by many of the authors appearing on the day discourse program. The bookstore will be open thorough the festival and accepts only cash.

Three installations open today. Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement presents Shield Ferns / Brown Pine Magic, a synthethic field recording made for the Botanical Garden of Jagiellonian University. At Cricoteca, John Brien has prepared a four-channel work based on the Sonambient recordings of Harry Bertoia. Finally, Peter Cusack and Martyna Poznańska explore the relationships and tensions of Białowieża Forest, the last primeval forest on the mainland of Europe. Located in Krakow Art House, There Will Be No Other Forest is presented with Up To Date Festival and SN Spaces. Go to the schedule for exact opening times for these works.

Later in the evening, the official Unsound opening concerts sees Richard Skelton explore the remote landscapes of Iceland, while in a specially commissioned project Polish group Księżyc will collaborate with Ukrainian multi-instrumentalist Svitlana Nianio and Paweł Romańczuk from Małe Instrumenty. Their work was first presented at Unsound Dislocation: Lviv. Tickets to this concert are now sold out.

The Unsound opening party, presented together with MISBHV, presents DJs and producers of the New East: Cxema’s Slava Lepseev, fellow Kyiv musician Konakov, Unsound resident DJ Olivia b2b Ron Morelli, and two DJs from Russia: Anastasia Kristensen and Inga Mauer.
