Unsound Festival starts this Saturday 10th October, with a special pre-festival show in a 19th-century water supply building in Bielany, on the road leading outside Krakow along the Wisla River. There, Max Loderbauer and Jacek Sienkiewicz will present “Ridges” with live visuals from Pedro Maia. Unsound Passes do not cover this special event. Tickets available at the Unsound Festival office from this Saturday, and at the door.

Also on 10th October at midnight, Jigoku return to present a midnight movie marathon in Kino pod Baranami, where no titles will be announced in advance - as fitting the Unsound 2015 “Surprise” theme. Expect films with a lot of twists and turns. Tickets available at the Kino pod Baranami website, and at the cinema.

The opening of Unsound takes place on 11th October at NCK in Nowa Huta, with Polish pianists Lutosławski Piano Duo, Joanna Duda and Mischa Kozlowski performing the compositions of Julius Eastman and Tomasz Sikorski. Tickets will be available at the Unsound festival office from Saturday, and at the door.

Note that the Unsound opening and closing parties on 11th and 18th October - which are totally free of charge - have been moved from the WARS restaurant at Kraków Główny train station to an abandoned wooden warehouse located at Kamienna street near Nowy Kleparz. Also belonging to the Polish railway, this space will be especially adapted. Info to the opening event is here.

In terms of other new venues, Unsound shows on the afternoon of Sunday 18th October will take place in a former cigarette factory on Dolnych Młynów street. Laraaji will lead his meditation session there, and then on another floor of the same building drummer Greg Fox will perform his Gregidency with a number of surprise artists. Both of these events are also free of charge.

Charles Cohen has had to cancel his European tour, including his Unsound show on October 12th. His collaborator Rabih Beaini (aka Morphosis) will still perform, joined for part of his set by a surprise artist. Charles Cohen was also set to give an artist Q&A on Monday 12th October; he has been replaced with Ghédalia Tazartès, who also performs that night at Manghha.

NTS Radio live broadcasts from Kraków are now a permanent Unsound fixture. This year, NTS sets up its studio at Betel Club near the festival office, welcoming audiences to unique open sessions with live shows, DJ sets and artists interviews. A list of sessions (all from 17:00 to 19:00) can be found on the NTS tab on the Unsound website. The artists appearing are all surprises, but keep an eye on the Unsound and NTS Facebook and Twitter pages for the most current info, and maybe some clues!

Remember that after today, tickets to shows will not longer be sold online at Ticketpro and associated outlets, and will only be available in the Festival Office (located in Pałac Krzysztofory, Rynek Główny 35, entrance from Szczepańska street), and at the door if not sold out.
