A memorial concert for Jóhann Jóhannsson will take place on 31st October at NOSPR Katowice. Following the sold out closing show of Unsound 2018 in Kraków, Sinfonietta Cracovia will again meets with the late composer’s friends and collaborators: Sam Slater, Erik K. Skodvin, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe. Polish musician Resina will also participate.
The late Jóhann Jóhannsson was one the world’s foremost composers of film music, known for scoring such movies as Sicario, Arrival, and Theory of Everything. He won a Golden Globe, was twice nominated for an Academy Award and last week posthumously won the World Soundtrack Award for Best Film Composer of the Year. But Jóhann also maintained strong ties to the world of experimental music, through performance as well as collaborators. Indeed, it says a great deal that, having first performed at Unsound Krakow in 2009 with Sinfonietta Cracovia, Jóhann later skipped attending the 2016 Academy Awards to play at Unsound Adelaide in Australia. Such connections again will be celebrated on All Saint’s Day Eve at a very special evening for fans, friends and collaborators of Jóhann.
Tickets and more information are available through the NOSPR website. This event is presented with Katowice - City of Music.
