Unsound and Forum Przestrzenie To Join Forces To Open New Krakow Club Called 89! First Peek At Unsound 2016 With Daytime After Parties!

October 13, 2016

Unsound Festival Krakow 2016 starts in just three days - but it’s never too late to bring a piece of unexpected news.

Unsound is joining forces with Forum Przestrzenie to start a new Krakow club called 89 (or Osiem Dziewięć in Polish).

The name 89 has multiple meanings, the most obvious referring to the year Hotel Forum opened, the vast and now abandoned building where Unsound throws sprawling and legendary club night events during the annual Krakow festival. 89 was also the year communism ended in Poland, the period when Hotel Forum was built - a brilliant example of brutalist architecture.

Sitting beneath Hotel Forum, the club was originally called Crazy Dragon, a place where things got unhinged back in the day as you can see from this video from 1990. In recent years, it became a strip club. The original décor has been left almost untouched, including carpet surfacing the floor and ceiling, creating an intimate atmosphere evoking the venue’s rich and storied background. You might also think you’ve dropped into a David Lynch movie.

By drawing on Unsound’s experience and reputation for programming music events, the aim is to make 89 a key point on the Polish and European underground club circuit, underlining that while venues may be disappearing in major cities like London, new scenes are rising up in locations to the east. 89 will focus on dance music on weekends, with experimental music programmed during weekdays.

The first very special pre-opening peek into 89 will be given to the Unsound audience via two Forum after party events on 22nd and 23rd October, with lineups below featuring many Unsound friends. The audience can stumble in directly when the parties upstairs in Forum end, or return later in the morning or early afternoon to catch some music and vibes. Tickets cost 25 PLN. As this is a separately produced event within the framework of Unsound, the festival pass does not get you in.

A limited number of tickets is already available in advance via Going - Afterburn 1 / Afterburn 2; otherwise, you can purchase tickets at the door.

89 rules: no guest list and no photos.
