Holly Herndon
With a solid background in electronic music theory, San Francisco-based Holly Herndon builds a sound space that resonates on both an intellectual and emotional level. In Herndon's own words, her music stems from “embodied experience in electronic media through experiments with the electronically processed voice, using extended vocal techniques, vocal processing and FM synthesis." She has collaborated with artists and theorists from Hieroglyphic Being to Iranian philosopher Reza Nagarestani.
Her debut LP will be released later this year on RVNG INTL, the New York label that has previously put out the likes of Julia Holter and Blondes. “Movement” is described as “a test chamber that hybridizes her modern composition training and undying devotion to club music.” The album flows and fragments in amazing ways, making us impatient indeed to discover what her live show will sound like.
