Stars of the Lid
An acclaimed ambient drone duo formed in Austin, Texas, and made up of Brian McBride and Adam Wiltzie. Classical composers such as Gorecki, Arvo Part and Zbigniew Preisner have influenced their sound as much as the likes of Labradford and Brian Eno. They play beatless soundscapes filled with drones, effects-treated guitar, strings and horns. They are one of the major acts releasing on Kranky, their most recent work being the 2007 double CD “And Their Refinement of the Decline”, which received extremely positive reviews around the world. For their Krakow appearance they will be accompanied by eight string players from the Sinfonietta Cracovia, making this their most ambitious live performance yet in terms of classical accompaniment. Visuals are an essential part of the Stars of The Lid live experience. Luke Savisky provides these, bathing the band in colour and motion.
