The mysterious figure named Zomby made his debut on Kode9’s Hyperdub label in 2007. Staring out as a dubstep producer, his work reveals a diversity of influences, and he is regarded as being at the forefront of the innovative movement in electronic music called wonky. Zomby’s debut album “Where Were You in ’92” was released in 2008 on Werk Discs, a homage to early 90s rave. Recorded using the studio techniques of that era, the full length still manages to infuse this music with a very contemporary rhythmic elasticity and bass, revealing the roots and evolution of this rich field of music. Zomby will release his second LP in September this year.
