Valgeir Sigurðsson

Best known for his work as a collaborator and producer, Valgeir has for the past decade provided a breeding ground for numerous local and international artists in his Greenhouse Recording Studios in Reykjavik, Iceland. From 1998 until 2006 he was one of Bjork’s main studio collaborators, producing many of her albums. He has also recorded and collaborated with artists such as Kronos Quartet, múm, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, CocoRosie, Howie B, Camille, Ane Brun, Maps, The Magic Numbers, Sam Amidon and composers Nico Muhly and Ben Frost. Greenhouse Studios is now regarded as Iceland’s premier recording facility. In 2006 he formed the Bedroom Community label, and released a solo album titled Ekvílibríum the following year. Recently Valgeir composed music for “Dreamland”, a feature-length documentary, and co-composed music for “Scent Opera” with Nico Muhly, which opened at The Guggemheim Museum in New York in May 2009.
