VHS Head

VHS Head is UK artist Adrian Blacow. His music is, one imagines, created with samples taken from VHS movie soundtracks, trailers and incidental music.
Whatever the method, the result is a frenetic array of chopped up sounds and beats that link both analogue and digital eras, making the listener feel as if they are doing the audio equivalent of extremely rapid channel surfing through 80s TV. This is weirdly, pleasurably transporting. Sounds recognizable from a past era are reconfigured, creating a rush of nostalgia. The titles to VHS Head's tracks enhance this feeling, referring as they do to movies.
VHS's last album was "Trademark Ribbons of Gold," release by Skam Records to glowing reviews.
