Senegal-born, Kuwait-raised, and currently a NYC resident, Fatima Al Qadiri's music draws on cross-border experience and bold creativity. Releasing on labels such as Tri Angle Records and UNO NYC, she records and DJs both under her own name and as Ayshay (Arabic for “whatever”). Al Qadiri is not afraid to incorporate a dizzying array of music genres into her intriguing blend, whether it's traditional Muslim chant, dubstep, juke or 90's New Age-y electronic pop. As a result, she has not only crafted a unique voice, but makes conscious and though-provoking social and cultural commentary via her music.
