Groupshow

Groupshow is a project made up of three highly regarded producers of electronic music based in Berlin: Jan Jelinek, Andrew Pekler and Hanno Leichtmann. Initially comprised of electronics, guitar and percussion, the group emerged when Jelinek had the desire to perform his album Kosmicher Pitch as a trio. The original idea was to establish a dynamic balance between group improvisation and an adequate representation of the album. Now Groupshow has fully acquired its own logic and idea, embodying a proto-fluxus conception that goes against the idea of repertoire. Their performance at Unsound will be by far the most extensive exploration of that concept anywhere to date, with an 8-hour long show providing a soundtrack to the Warhol film Empire, a static shot of the Empire State Building shot overnight. This event has been commissioned by the Goethe-Institut.
