Tales From The Crypt 2: The Art of Darkness

Why are experimental forms of music often drawn to the dark side? Panelists discuss the art of creating dark sounds for personal compositions, film and computer games. Panelists include Ben Frost, Brian Williams (aka Lustmord), Polish artist Zenial and Raz Mesinai (Badawi), whose film score for Hellraiser 5 was rejected for being “too scary”. The moderator is music journalist Andy Battaglia.

Speaking with music journalist Philip Sherburne, horror soundtrack expert Joel Martin discusses the use of “library music” in exploitation films, from “Dawn of the Dead” to “Grindhouse”. Martin will focus on De Wolfe Music, which began its recorded library in 1927 with the advent of talkies and now has more than 70,000 tracks. Will include clips and sound from films discussed.
