Michael Nyman

Michael Nyman is one of the world’s best-known contemporary composers, particular for his film soundtrack work. This includes the music for early Peter Greenaway films such as Drowning By Numbers and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover as well as Jane Campion’s The Piano, which has sold more than 3 million copies. As a musicologist writing in the late 60s, Nyman is also famous for having coined the phrase “minimalism”, a phrase that is often attached to his own compositions. Unsound audiences will get a unique insight into a different side of Nyman’s creative persona via Sublime, a video and sound installation that explores images harvested from this his travels around the world. The installation will take place in a nineteenth century power plant run by Cricoteca, the Tadeusz Kantor Foundation.
