NEXT ROUND OF UNSOUND 2013 ACTS ANNOUNCED. WEEKLY AND LONG WEEKEND PASSES ON SALE THIS FRIDAY

Krakow's Unsound Festival - the international showcase of innovative music - has released a new round of artists confirmed to appear at this year's event, between 13 - 20 October. As previously announced, many of the artists will intersect with the festival's curatorial theme: INTERFERENCE.

Apart from exploring abrasive, disrupted and distorted music forms, INTERFERENCE will also manifest itself in a series of newly fostered collaborations.

OREN AMBARCHI will perform with Krakow's SINFONIETTA CRACOVIA to present a special version of his epic work "Knots", promising to push the way an orchestra can be used in live performance to its outer limits. "Knots" will also feature JOE TALIA on drums, while the orchestra will be led by EYVIND KANG.

One of the most exciting exclusives for Unsound 2013 will see the pairing of Modern Love label mates ANDY STOTT and DEMDIKE STARE with a unique live performance titled "EUTECTIC". The set has been conceived with the Unsound theme INTERFERENCE in mind, and will be performed purely on hardware.

Another key collaboration is THE MULHOLLAND FREE CLINIC. This "supergroup", also formed specially for Unsound, is a joining of MAGIC MOUNTAIN HIGH and REAGENZ, groups in which MOVE D teams up with JUJU & JORDASH and JONAH SHARP respectively. Expect a big live show in the true sense of the word, with free form improvised dance music that is mostly electronic and hardware driven, also no laptops involved.

As for other unique elements of the Unsound club music program, at the invitation of the festival REGIS will present NECKLACE OF BITES, which the pioneering techno artist describes as "a twenty-year retrospective of Regis, re-sequenced and dissected for this special performance".

Unsound will also present the first European showcase of the fantastic New York/Berlin-based White Material Records, including YOUNG MALE, DJ RICHARD and GALCHER LUSTWERK, who will present their up-front take on techno and house. Another addition is PEARSON SOUND, who has put out a series of excellent and stylistically diverse 12" records over the past year, both independently and via the Hessle Audio label he co-owns.

In terms of concerts, an artist long-overdue to appear at the festival is FOREST SWORDS, and this year the timing is right, with his freshly announced LP on Tri Angle Records. You can already hear a track from this album on line, "Thor's Stone", which has caused a storm of interest and promises his new live show is going to be something special.

PETE SWANSON - formerly of legendary duo Yellow Swans - is a trailblazer in blurring lines between noise and techno scenes, embodied in his critically acclaimed LP "Man With Potential" and the EP "Punk Authority". Swanson's Unsound performance will be part of a bill with Polish artist ROBERT PIOTROWICZ; whilst usually focused on synths to create a fierce trademark sound, Piotrowicz recently put out "When Snakeboy Is Dying", a subtle album with a broad spectrum of instruments.

Norwegian artist JENNY HVAL's LP "Innocence Is Kinky" extends her provocative take on pop and rock into more brazen territory, exploring gender politics, sexuality and violence. Hval and her band gave a riveting live show at Unsound Festival New York in 2012, now to be followed by a Krakow performance.

INNODE is the new project of ex-RADIAN member Stefan Nemeth, with drummers Steven Hess (Pan American, Locrian) and Bernhard Breuer (Elektro Guzzi). Their debut album on Mego, "Gridshifter", is an intense exploration between rhythm, noise, silence and acoustic and electronic instruments - and should make for a gripping live show at Unsound 2013.

STARA RZEKA has also been added to the program, a Polish act that has received glowing reviews for the album "Cień chmury nad ukrytym polem", which fuses drone, psychedelia, metal and folk, all with a mysterious Slavic tinge.

Weekly and long weekend passes to the festival go on sale this Friday 21 October, via Ticketpro (www.ticketpro.pl). The cost is 260 PLN (60 Euros) for a week pass from 13 - 20 October and 210 PLN (50 Euros) for a weekend pass from 17 - 20 October. Purchase early, as these always sell out far in advance.

Please note that passes do not cover entry to ROBERT RICH's "Sleep Concert”. The "Sleep Concert" costs an additional 15 PLN (3.5 Euros) to register numbers for this limited capacity event, which will take place in Hotel Forum at midnight on Wednesday 16 October, going until 7am Thursday morning. Tickets are also on sale this Friday.

More artists are to be announced soon.
