Unsound 2020 has just reached the end of 11 days of performances, workshops, discussions and more. Thanks to everyone involved in any of these events, and those who tuned in. We will soon release further details on the Intermission book and album, also integral this year’s festival.

As for the archive, much of the material broadcast during Unsound will stay up indefinitely, but there are several special transmissions that will only remain online for a short period. This includes:

DeForrest Brown, Jr. and James Hoff’s HOBO UFO (v. The New World) and artist talk – online until 19th October.

HOBO UFO (v. The New World) is a vital new audio visual project that examines the tumultuous geographic history of race in America utilising sound, field recordings, video, and detourned commercial mapping software. A conversation with DeForrest Brown, Jr. and James Hoff follows.

Steve Goodman’s Audio Virologies and Lawrence Lek’s AIDOL 爱道 LIVE and artist talk – online until 15th October.

Audio Virologies explores the short history of viruses rendered audible, while AIDOL 爱道 LIVE focuses on the music of Lawrence Lek’s feature film AIDOL 爱道, to be released on Hyperdub.

Kristen Gallerneaux presents: Echomaking and Chris Watson presents: Unlocked and artist talk – online for a limited period of time.

Echomaking is an audiovisual essay exploring stories related to the pandemic, chronic sleep disorder, and the suppression and disintegration of Kristen Gallerneaux’s indigenous Anishinaabe/Metis heritage, while Unlocked explores the places field recordist Chris Watson recorded during lockdown.

Weavings – curated and conceived by Nicolás Jaar, remains available for the moment – but will not stay up indefinitely. The show features Aho Ssan, Ka Baird, Angel Bat Dawid, Ellen Fullman, Dirar Kalash, Księżyc, Laraaji, Jaar himself, Resina, Paweł Szamburski, Juliana Huxtable, Rolando Hernández Guzmán and Wukir Suryadi & Rully Shabara of Senyawa.

This week, we will post a longer summary of the festival with full links to the rest of the vast Unsound 2020 archive available online.
