Discussion: Survival Mode: Clubs, Live Music and COVID-19

Discussion 4. Poster

The COVID-19 pandemic poses an existential threat to live events and clubbing. While it’s possible to envision concerts in a socially-distanced era, what do restrictions mean for durational club events where mingling, bodies and close-contact are key? If club events are again taking place in certain countries – both legally and unofficially – what guidelines need to be enforced to mitigate risk? And has the pandemic created any upsides for the events industry?

Participants include:

Dimitri Hegemann (Tresor / Berlin),

Dtekk (FOMO / Białystok, Poland),

Ria Katz (Quo Vadis, Knockdown Center and ex-Output / NYC),

Sarra Wild (OH141 / Glasgow),

Shimpei Kaiho (WWWβ / Tokyo),

Gaz Williams (ALL / Shanghai).

Moderated by music journalist and agent Lisa Blanning.

The discussion is hosted in partnership with Mixmag. It will be livestreamed via FB, YT, and Twitch.
