HiTech are the Detroit-based trio of MC-producers King Milo and Milf Melly, and DJ 47Chops, three young artists who are re-assembling the Motor City's legendary club framework in their own image. Taking elements from jit - a high energy dance style that's related to Chicago's footwork - and blending them with urgent street rap, sensual R&B and slippery techno, they make music that shares DNA with DJ Assault, DJ Snowflake and Omar S, who released the HiTech's two albums on his own FXHE imprint. Their most recent, 'DÉTWAT', is half an hour of itchy, idiosyncratic beats, raps and mangled samples; it's a sweaty basement party that reassures us of Detroit's unsurpassable, ramshackle creative force.
