Wacław Zimpel

When you hear Wacław Zimpel’s sound you might think to yourself, “Wow, this ensemble is great”, but it’s actually just one person playing bass and alto clarinets, a khaen and organs. The Polish multinstrumentalist has long been one of the most important figures on Warsaw’s jazz and improv scene, but is now also focusing on his solo career. With this year’s fantastic album “Lines” and a string of incredible live shows blending post-minimalism and whirling psychedelia - including at Unsound Toronto - he is rapidly cementing his position in the experimental music world.
