Panel: From the Edge, Coming In, Crossing Lines

October 21, 2016 - October 21, 2016 | Bunkier Sztuki

Can culture somehow be transcended via sound? Can cultural rifts be healed through music, and perceived stereotypes broken? What does it mean to be “outside”? Taking as its starting point the premise that Jon Hassell's fourth world music no longer has meaning, this talk explores the implications of drawing on music from another culture – the pitfalls to avoid, ways to make the approach positive. With: Rully Shabara from Senyawa, Ian McDonnell from Eomac, Gavin Blair from Equiknoxx, Nazira and Miss Red. Moderated by Lebanese-born Berlin-based artist Rabih Beaini.
