The former tram hall at the Engineering Museum lights up with two special projects connecting sound and visual elements. Robin Fox brings the premiere of the third part of his influential series for laser and sound, exploring the possibilities of mechanically induced synaesthesia. Called Single Origin, it draws the separated colour spectrum of Fox’s RGB show into a single projector with jaw-dropping results. New York’s James Hoff employs his audiovisual project HOBO UFO (v. Chernobyl) to move through the abandoned city of Pripyat in Chernobyl’s Zone of Alienation via a modified version of Google Maps streetview that responds to sound. In the process, the work explores the way the digitization of our environment has radically shifted our perspective of nature.
