Panel: Erasure of The Underground

October 17, 2013 | Bunkier Sztuki

In 2013, the notion of a musical “underground” has perhaps never been more tenuous. Not only is music accessible in ways that negate the gap between so-called mainstream and underground music, but underground scenes are often rapidly co-opted by commercial interests. Is this anything new? Is there any point in attempting to hold onto such distinctions, and if not, will the “underground” assert itself again in a new form? With Jan Rohlf (CTM), Todd Burns, Barron Machat (Hippos In Tanks) and others. Moderated by Philip Sherburne.
