Kraków's own Aleksander Wnuk opens Kamienna's Room 1 on Friday, performing Polish noise legend Zbigniew Karkowski’s Form and Disposition for solo percussion with live electronics, reconstructed, transcribed and arranged by Aleksander Wnuk and Piotr Peszat. Then we turn to Crystallmess, an uncompromising DJ, writer, producer and visual artist who premieres her blistering live A/V show, a collaboration with Xquisite Releases co-founder oxhy, before glimpsing the future with director and musician Rick Farin and Actual Objects' radical fusion of CG, live action visuals and AI techniques. Following a noisy, percussive intervention from HISS Collective's Daniel Szwed, Grammy winning DJ and producer Tayhana guides us through her frenetic, percussive sound world, then rave deconstructionist Evian Christ goes toe-to-toe with Brooklyn producer evilgiane, who's worked alongside Earl Sweatshirt, Baby Keem and A$AP Rocky. It's left to RHR, a trailblazing producer from São Paulo, to close things out with his surprising take on Brazilian electronic music, combining influences from funk, electro, bass music and dark minimal techno.
Warsaw-based experimental rap duo mosa.tech, aka Uncaame and Hemolgoblin, start things off in Room 2 with a genre distorting live performance, setting the mood for cult British artist Florence Sinclair's dreamy, cinematic blur of grime, rap, ambient music and chamber pop. Prolific percussionist and composer Valentina Magaletti and Afro-Portuguese original Nídia build on their brilliant Estradas full-length next, and Kenyan metalhead Lord Spikeheart, one of the world's most distinctive vocalists, takes us to extremes with his blast beats and guttural rasp. Then, it's left to DJ Anderson Do Paraíso, one of Brazil's most inspiring producers, to clear the wreckage with his dark, minimalist take on funk, before Italian DJ and producer and Nervous Horizon boss TSVI teams up with Aussie newcomer Surusinghe for an explosive b2b. And the room closes in fine style with an energetic techno-trance set from Polish artist dogheadsurigeri.
CRYSTALLMESS + OXHY and DJ Anderson Do Paraíso have been co-curated by Le Guess Who?, and Lord Spikeheart has been co-curated by Berlin Atonal, as part of a collaborative curation supported by TIMES (The Independent Movement for Electronic Scenes).
