Conceived by sci-fi fiction writers, cyberpunk has radical roots drawing on punk and hacker culture in the service of a speculative literary movement driven by the concerns of the 1980s. Now the term is tied to unrelated matters including a big-budget Polish computer game, Cyberpunk 2077, which appears to have more cool robot limbs and neon lighting than political critique. This discussion explores what “cyberpunk” might mean in 2018, taking a more radical position - or, indeed, whether the word would be best shelved and replaced with others. Participants include CD Project's Marcin Blacha, Jay Springett, Lee Gamble and Agata Pyzik. Moderated by Lisa Blanning.
