Discussion: Cross-Cultural Collaboration

At a time of forbidding borders and rising nationalism, cross-cultural music collaboration is more vital than ever. Nyege Nyege’s Kampala HQ is a space where artists from around the world meet, live and work together. Following last year’s talk on music in East Africa, this panel focuses on HHY & The Kampala Unit, to show how to build a cross-border artistic collaboration and why it’s important, from the spark of an idea to concert and album release. Portugese musician and artist Jonathan Uliel Saldanha of HHY, Ugandan musicians Florence Lugemwa and Omutaba and Nyege Nyege’s Arlen Dilsizian discuss with Andy Battaglia of ARTnews.

The event is part of the INTER:FACE project commissioned by the Municipality of Kraków and Kraków Festival Office.
