Artist Talk: Revisiting Metahaven's The Sprawl (Propaganda About Propaganda)

The work of Metahaven consists of filmmaking, writing, and design, including 2015’s The Sprawl: Propaganda About Propaganda, described as "an unbroken digital scream" (International Film Festival Rotterdam). As Metahaven explains, “every piece of media, or propaganda, contains in its surface, its treatment, traces of the way in which it was made, contains in its mediatic texture, in the properties of the image and its surface, also a message about itself.” In this talk, Metahaven will revisit the film and contemplate its potential futures.
