Moor Mother

American musician, community activist and poet Camae Ayewa, the self-described “truth teller” is one of the most interesting voices in hiphop music, channeling both noise offshoots of the genre as well as the cosmic influences of Sun Ra. Her protest music is visceral and powerful, expressing anger and exorcising the trauma of the past, as heard on her painfully urgent “Fetish Bones” album. She’s also an avid collaborator and at Unsound 2017 will not only perform solo, but will join Kevin Martin (The Bug) and Justin Broadrick’s Zonal for the world premiere of a new show.
