Holly Herndon

Although Holly Herndon's music is rooted in ideas related to her academic background, she presents it in an accessible way, playfully focusing on her voice as a core instrument. Through vocal cut-ups, singing, speaking and whispering she touches on themes such as egalitarianism, surveillance, capitalism and privilege among others, combining the most natural form of expression with cutting-edge electronic sounds. Her 2015 album "Platform" is one of the best received this year, praised for its breadth and futuristic feel; live, it transforms into an audio-visual interactive show, where a laptop peformance becomes an art event. The Unsound show will feature special guest Colin Self, who also appears on Herndon’s album. Self is a performance artist, who is a member of the New York group Chez Deep.
