Jed Kurzel’s Snowtown: Live

Snowtown: Live is a unique work developed by composer Jed Kurzel, in collaboration with Unsound, which had its acclaimed premiere at Unsound Adelaide as part of Adelaide Festival. Directed by his brother Justin Kurzel, the film “Snowtown” tells the story of a series infamous murders that took place in South Australia in the 1990s. Jed performs his ominous, hypnotic score to “Snowtown” live with a six six-piece band including guitar, mandolin, synth and percussion. Marcel Weber (aka MFO) draws on un-used footage captured during the making of the film, allowing the score to rise to the surface, with the story of the murders buried just beneath music and images. “Snowtown: Live” inverts one idea of The Dream, revealing its other: nightmare.
