Manuka Honey

Last year Marissa Malik, better known as UK-based American DJ and producer Manuka Honey, released her debut EP on Mexico City's legendary N.A.A.F.I. imprint. Called "Industrial Princess" it dexterously summarized up her creative outlook, curving warehouse techno pneumatics around Latin rhythms and splaying sci-fi sound design across ass-shaking soundsystem basslines. It's a musical fingerprint that has led to her catching the ears of UK institutions like YCO and Daytimers, and her next EP is set for release on Florentino's Club Romantico label. As a DJ she's notorious for her lively, chaotic performances that track through reggaeton, baile and dembow expressions with sensuality, darkness and an all-important sense of humor.
