Designing and fabricating his own 3D-printed reed instruments based on ancient designs, Polish-born, London-based audio visual artist Wojciech Rusin is able to reach into the past while signaling towards the future. His 2019 debut album "The Funnel" combines field recordings from Port Talbot Steelworks with DIY electro-acoustic instruments, adding vocals inspired by alchemical texts and renaissance polyphony. This year's "Syphon" took Rusin's concept even further, reconstructing fragments of the past into speculative medieval music, layering bagpipe sounds, vocals and recorders with bizarrely treated experimental soundscapes. For this performance, Rusin joins forces with Poland's celebrated new music ensemble, Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensemble.
