It’s The Seventh Day of Unsound - Here’s What’s On!

Welcome one and all the seventh day of Unsound!

If you can drag yourself out of bed, our second and final ambient brunch is taking place at midday at PURO Kazimierz. This time, Berlin-based Russian artist Perila will play a DJ SET, spinning webs of silken soundscapes and gossamer ASMR vocals for two hours. Food, coffee and tea will be available.

Over at Psychosound Studio, there's a free CDJ workshop at 12:00 for Ukrainian-speaking beginners to take a closer look at a basic DJ setup. Registration is already closed, but we’ll be running additional CDJ and DJ workshops in the future, also aimed at Ukrainian youth.

Starting at 12:00 and running until 16:00, Betel Klub will be hosting this year's independent record label fair, with a focus on Polish labels - buy CDs, vinyl and cassettes, chat to label owners, listen to tunes and enjoy the vibes.

Ukrainian rapper Alyona Alyona boots up the day's short and sweet discourse program at 13:00 at Pałac Krzysztofory, talking to Borshch Magazine's Mariana Berezovska about community solidarity and mutual support, and healing collective trauma. These talks are free of charge.

With doors opening at 14:30 at Klub Poczta Główna, Polish techno pioneer Jacek Sienkiewicz - who played at Unsound's first club night in 2005 - will offer a live rendition of his new album Pristine, abstracting jazzy improvisations and skeletal rhythms. PC Music's felicita follows with a special new live experience, fusing high-energy performance with hallucinogenic noise jams and sparkling dance pop. Advance tickets are sold out, but we’ll sell tickets at the door according to capacity.

Using the term ‘listening-occasion; to describe the format, Berlin-based artist Lou Drago will present Fragments for Affinity at Herve at 15:00. Combining research with sound and live art, Drago seeks out harmony between anyone oppressed under neoliberalism in the hope of re-booting our collective imagination. This event is free of charge.

At 17:00, we’re teaming up with Bar Bałtyk at ul. Nowowiejska 11 to present a sensual and multi-flavored edible installation, prepared by Polish artists Pola Salicka and Pola Sutryk and inspired by Bubbles, the theme of this year's Unsound. This follows their spectacular edible installation at Ephemera Festival in Warsaw. The vegetarian and vegan delights can be accompanied by natural wine from Bałtyk Bar. Entry is by a donation of 20 PLN (or more) at the door.

ICE Kraków will host the world premiere performances tonight, starting at 18:30 with PAN-signed Italian artist Heith, who will debut an A/V show featuring Zu percussionist Jacopo Battaglia, multi-instrumentalist Leonardo Rubboli and visual design studio Declino. Robin Fox is next to the stage with Triptych, a work for three RGB laser projectors influenced by Polish-born artist Stanisław Ostoja-Kotkowski. Finally we'll welcome the exciting first assembly of Osmium, a fresh project from Oscar winner Hildur Guðnadóttir, producer Sam Slater, Emptyset's James Ginzburg and vocalist Rully Shabara of Senyawa. This event is sold out, but we will sell tickets at the door if there is capacity.

Kamienna 12's Main Bubble opens its doors at 21:00 today with a head-to-head from Polish hip-hop outfit TONFA and Warsaw producer 1988. Fittingly, Ukrainian rapper Alyona Alyona follows quickly after with what's sure to be one of the festival's most energetic shows. Then it's a Hyperdub double bill: the premiere of Kode9's new Escapology A/V show, and a live performance from 700 Bliss, the earth-shaking collaboration between Moor Mother and DJ Haram. DJ sets tonight arrive courtesy of dear friends Bored Lord and Ariel Zetina, who play back-to-back for the first time in Europe, Timedance boss Batu, and Nkisi, whose mixture of blown-out gabber and nauseous ritual music is unmissable.

In the Side Bubble, percussionist Pimpon will get things started at 22:30, before Polish mainstay FOQL premieres a new show based around her latest album Wehikuł. Unfortunately, South African producer Vigro Deep could not make it to the festival, and has been replaced with Italian-Ivorian producer and DJ Ehua. Uruguay's Lila Tirando a Violeta is set to lavish Latin club rhythms and gabber pulses with hoarse post-punk screams and searing noise. Portugal's DJ Narciso will bring his blunted kuduro to the dancefloor, followed by a first-time back-to-back from London-based junglist Tim Reaper and Kode9. OK Williams plays us out with her freeform blend of UK funky, drill, techno and house.

We’ve just released a final small batch of advance tickets today for this club event. Regarding tickets at the gate, if there are any to sell we’ll let you know via Telegram. Please do not come to buy tickets otherwise.

At 07:00 until 15:00, Warsaw’s Mazury Club will present an afterparty at 89 beneath Hotel Forum, with artists including: Chickenmilk dot com, Jśa, k: i: o: s: k, Krzysztof and Julek Ploski (PL), as well as a performance from Ukrainian-Belarusian drag queen and music producer LAVA XXX. Tickets available online and at the door.
