Ugandan-American dreamweaver Ian Mugerwa (aka Dawuna) uploaded his debut album 'Glass Lit Dream' during lockdown in 2020 when the music industry was in tatters, not knowing whether it would reach listeners or not. He didn't have anything to worry about; before long, the record's purple haze of D'Angelo and Prince-inspired R&B and rich, experimental soundscapes had caught the ears of Space Afrika and Moses Boyd, and the album was reissued by London's bespoke O___o? imprint last year. Mugerwa will be appearing at Unsound 2023 alongside a three-piece band, supporting his heartbreaking latest release 'EP1'.
