Who else has the confidence to debut with a labyrinthine, four-an-a-half-hour, 109-track album? Released last year on cult Belgian imprint STRROM, Voice Actor's 'Sent from my Telephone' is nothing if not ambitious. The brainchild of UK-based duo Noa Kurzweil and Levi Lanser, it's a record that quickly instructs listeners to prepare for anything. Vivid traces of mangled hypnagogic dream-pop, crunchy IDM-inspired beat music, lo-fi trip-hop, vintage electronics and inverted footwork are painted into stream-of-consciousness notes in the duo's deliberately chaotic sketchbook. There's nothing else quite like it, but if you're into Space Afrika, Mica Levi, Félicia Atkinson and Boards of Canada, then that's a good start.
