Late-night programming at the vast Kamienna 12 – formerly a railway cargo depot – begins on Thursday with a jam-packed lineup. Polish ‘dubwave’ trio Dynasonic gets things started in Room 1 with their simmering, abstract contemporary bass variations, followed by a live A/V show from Natural Wonder Beauty Concept, a daring new pop project from New York’s DJ Python and Ana Roxanne. After this, Taiwan’s Meuko! Meuko! will team up with visual artist NONEYE for a breathtaking live premiere investigating mythology, tech-animalism and gaming culture. The legendary DJ Babatr brings his party-starting raptor-house sound to Kraków from Venezuela, while Olof Dreijer – formerly one half of The Knife – returns to Unsound to play an eclectic DJ set in the wake of a new release on Hessle Audio. Paris-based Emma dj will split the CDJs with the wildly versatile JASSS, a veritable b2b wizard whose wide-ranging sets are both technically prodigious and energetic. An in(ter)vention comes in the form of a brief live performance of the Machine Listening Songbook Nr 2.
Boredoms’ Yamantaka Eye – better known simply as EYE – is at the heart of Room 2's lineup, bringing his freeform, noisy, percussive thrust to a DJ set likely to blow minds. Polish beatmaking duo IFS get together with idiosyncratic Japanese rapper MA to open, setting the stage for UK performer Iceboy Violet’s confrontational, emotionally charged distortions of rap, drill and global club sounds. Egyptian producer 3Phaz will offer a live rendition of his kinetic Ends Meet album, which tangles sinewy pentatonic melodies with razor-sharp beats, while New Yorker Lust$ickPuppy will bring a love of ’80s horror, queer glam and BDSM culture to her theatrical blend of hardstyle and furious punk. Wrocław’s Kitty Sarcasm will go b2b with Kraków’s own Semprey to track through rhythms from the global club continuum, from hard drum and dembow to Brazilian funk and East Coast club.
