Far from a random back to back, this is a chance for two friends - both architects of the sound some would describe as "deconstructed club" - to survey their outsized influence. Because both Alejandra Ghersi Rodríguez and Ashland Mines (aka Bobby Beethoven) can trace their music roots back to the NYC's legendary underground party GHE20G0TH1K, an open-minded queer space where pop, rap, industrial music, dembow and ballroom was allowed to collide. As Total Freedom, Mines was one of the night's residents, while Ghersi was a regular fixture; their crucial groundwork prompted a cultural shift that underpins so much of today's most kinetic, genre-bending music.
