Liars present Drum's Not Dead 20th anniversary show feat. Macio Moretti & Tymek Papior (KRAKÓW)

In a special anniversary performance of their landmark 2016 album 'Drum's Not Dead', Aussie-American experimental rock outfit Liars will team up with two very different Polish percussionists: Macio Moretti, a veteran player on the independent scene who was a member of garage rock band Starzy Singers and grindcore act Antigama; and Tymek Papior, a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer who combines electroacoustic elements with improvisation. And the album remains a enduring question about the use of drums in contemporary music.

"When we began making Drum's Not Dead, we were interested in the idea that rhythm could carry a story," explains Liars' Angus Andrew. "The album emerged from an obsession with percussion — not simply as accompaniment, but as a force capable of creating tension, personality, movement and atmosphere on its own. Twenty years later, revisiting the work with multiple drummers feels less like looking backwards than uncovering something that has continued to evolve. Many of the questions that shaped the record — about repetition, ritual, community and transformation — remain central to how I think about music today. This performance for Unsound returns 'Drum's Not Dead' to its rhythmic core, presenting the album as a living piece whose pulse continues to reveal new possibilities."
