Serokolo 7 (KRAKÓW)

Hailing from Limpopo, a province in the north of South Africa, Serokolo 7 revives and modernizes the region's "living communal practice" mapanta, a unique trance-inducing sound that could be heard at weddings and youth gatherings throughout the 1980s. His first album 'Maramfa Musik Pro' is an ideal primer, showcasing his digitally-augmented mapanta rhythms and the all-important vocals (or invocations), in Sepedi, one of South Africa's 12 official languages. It's some of the most original, vital dance music out there right now - like amapiano smashed with Nozinja's high-speed "shangaan electro".
