Tercet Imperial

You might be familiar with the oberek, a Polish folk dance known for its 3/4 rhythm, but you've never heard it interpreted quite like this. Tercet Imperial was formed by veteran multi-instrumentalists Piotr Zabrodzki and Jan Emil Młynarski in 2024 as a way to examine the oberek's distinctive melodies and rhythms, figuring out how its sounds lock into a wider folk narrative that links to Africa and Asia. And when they linked up with singer and dancer Joanna Sztucka, the band's core sound crystallized, a wide-angled, electronic re-imagining of oberek forms that's exemplified on their stunning debut album 'Prymat'.
