Released earlier this year on the AD93 imprint, 'Blurrr' is Glasgow-based visual artist and singer-songwriter Joanne Robertson's sixth album and, according to Pitchfork, "her undisputed masterpiece." They're not wrong either, Robertson's always been good - whether she's collaborating with Dean Blunt or operating in her own fragile universe - and all her various thematic threads are knitted neatly together on 'Blurrr'. Her heartbreaking, Hope Sandoval-esque solo moments are juxtaposed here with lush, subtly cinematic collaborations with cellist Oliver Coates; half Arthur Russell's 'World of Echo' and half Grouper's 'Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill', it's all utterly magical.
