Aleksandra Herzyk
Author of comics and books. Alumna of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University. Her debut historical graphic novel, Wolność albo Śmierć [Freedom or Death], was published in 2022. It won the Hestia Literary Journey Award in 2023 and was nominated for the Best Polish Comic Album of 2022 at the International Festival of Comics and Games in Łódź, as well as the Best Debut at the Warsaw of Comics festival. Herzyk was also the first graphic novel author in the history of the competition to receive the Kraków Book of the Month award. Her reportage Przegryw [Loser], co-written with Patrycja Wieczorkiewicz, was published in September 2023 by W.A.B publishing house. In 2024, a comic book Kiedyś będzie pięknie [The Best Is Yet to Come], based on her script and illustrated by Katarzyna Klas, was published as part of the W(y)kluczenia [(Non)Inclusions] series. Herzyk has collaborated with Sexed, Amnesty International, TVN 24, and Kontakt magazine, and writes for Noizz.pl and Krytyka Polityczna. She is currently working on the second volume of Wolność… as well as a new book.
