Co-signed by Thurston Moore, Stephen O'Malley, Fred Frith and Leila Bordreuil, Paris-based guitarist Nina Garcia is one of the contemporary noise scene's most creative young proponents. Her latest album 'Bye Bye Bird' lays out her musical framework without adulteration, recorded using just electric guitar - no effects - and relying on her technique and well-honed impulses to create tension and movement. And her singular "ultra territorial" style, a way of playing the guitar unplugged with a hand-held electromagnetic sensor to pick up details, microscopic vibrations, has to be witnessed to be believed.
