PRESENTATION: BREAKING OUT OF THE NETWORK

“The network,” a dominant societal and technological metaphor of recent decades, has exhausted its progressive potential. What began as a dream of non-hierarchical interconnection and radical solidarity now grips the planet in a chokehold of exploitation, extraction, automation, and warfare. In this talk, technology researcher Jaya Klara Brekke will dissect the network as both diagram and metaphor, tracing how it has been exploited technically, politically, socially, and psychologically – and exploring how we might push back through more embodied ways of being in the world.
