From the Oscar-winning team behind 20 Days in Mariupol, 2,000 Meters to Andriivka documents the toll of the Russia–Ukraine war from an unflinchingly personal perspective. After chronicling Mariupol’s civilian suffering, filmmaker Mstyslav Chernov turns his lens on Ukrainian soldiers – their origins, identities, and impossible choices in the trenches as they fight for every inch of land. Amid a faltering 2023 counteroffensive, Chernov and AP colleague Alex Babenko follow a brigade advancing through one mile of fortified forest to liberate Andriivka. Blending original footage, army bodycam video, and moments of reflection, the film reveals that for these soldiers, war may never truly end. The film’s score was created by Unsound-regular Sam Slater.
