Fourth Unsound Announcement

Unsound starts in less than a week, and it’s time to put the final touches on the program. You can already check the nighttime and daytime programs on our website, as well as the new Unsound app on iOS and Android – along with ticket links. Some events are already sold out, so best not to delay if you want to come.
In our last announcement, we shared perhaps the biggest Unsound surprise of the year: we’re returning to Hotel Forum for the late-night program. This means for the first time since 2019 we’ll have a third room, 89 aka The Secret Lodge, on the Friday and Saturday nights (Knots and Weave).
Friday will feature UK singer-songwriter and painter Joanne Robertson, who has just released the acclaimed new album Blurrr. Experimental saxophonist and producer Jerzy Mączyński will present music from his debut solo album DO 555ps. A second show from Jim O’Rourke & Eiko Ishibashi – alongside their main concert at Łaźnia Nowa – sees them rework the music of Polish composer and electronic music pioneer Włodzimierz Kotoński, a project that premiered at Unsound Osaka. Rabih Beaini, Berlin-based Lebanese musician and head of the Morphine label, will close the room with a DJ set. Tickets here.
Saturday’s program includes interdisciplinary artist and composer Olga Anna Markowska, who released her zither and cello-centred album ISKRA at the beginning of the year, as well as Natan Kryszk, a Polish saxophonist, painter and sculptor. After a mindblowing DJ set at Unsound Osaka, 1729 (fka Iryoku) will perform at 89 (she will also present a free set on Sunday afternoon at the Cricoteka museum). The program will close with a blazing liveset from the mysterious Mohammad Adam. Tickets here.
Presented with PRM and adidas Originals, the Unsound Superstar Closing Party takes place in the Sky7 Jubilat building, on the top floor of the iconic communist-era department store, with its sweeping view over the Vistula river and Wawel Castle. The jam-packed lineup includes Los Thuthanaka the ground-breaking sibling duo of Chuquimamani-Condori and Joshua Chuquimia Crampton – whose recent self-titled album is one of the year’s best. You can also catch the return of a b2b set from Sega Bodega and Lee Gamble, following their joint premiere earlier this year at Unsound Brussels. Further DJ sets come from Dominican artist and producer Kelman Duran, Cuban-Spanish artist Toccororo and Warsaw native Hekato. This event is included in the Weekly and Long Weekend Pass. Individual tickets are available here.
When we initially announced Matthew Barney and Jonathan Bepler’s River of Fundament, we promised the lineup would be expanded. Polish composer and sound artist Martyna Basta will be joining Bepler and Adam Gołębiewski on stage to provide live layers of scoring to the 6-hour movie. Tickets here.
The Unsound label is also in full force. Last Friday, we released Piotr Kurek’s new album Songs and Bodies, available digitally and on vinyl – it received a glowing review on Pitchfork. Joining forces with the Polish Instant Classic label, we’re also releasing a new single from KAKUHAN and Adam Gołębiewski’s collaboration this Friday. You can preorder the full album titled Repercussions on Bandcamp.
Stay tuned for more!
