Nivhek is a new alias of Liz Harris, the artist also known as Grouper, whose prolific career spans many collaborations (including Unsound alumni The Bug, Lawrence English and Pete Swanson) and genres. Be it drone, folk or pop, her work is permeated with an oneiric sense of beauty. For Unsound 2017, Harris is preparing thea premiere of “After its own death”, a project born during a residency for Unsound Murmansk, located in the Russian Arctic. Created together with MFO, the paradoxically minimalist, both harsh and dreamlike work will explore landscape, nostalgia and isolation via image and sound. “After its own death” is commissioned by Unsound, The Barbican and Goethe-Institut.
