Unsound Returns to Adelaide 19-20 July. Full Lineup Unveiled

Unsound Returns to Adelaide 19-20 July

The 11th edition of Unsound Adelaide takes place from 19 - 20 July, within the framework of Illuminate Adelaide. Details of the full lineup and tickets are available here.

Two nights of concerts take place in Dom Polski, a Polish cultural house built in 1973 that feels like you’ve teleported from Australia to a magical Kraków venue. 19 July features Japan-based legends Jim O’Rourke & Eiko Ishibashi; an exclusive presentation of Lee Gamble and choreographer/action artist Candela Capitán’s Models; the premiere of a new audiovisual work by Australia’s Marco Fusinato called Ashes of Cloud; Norwegian saxophonist Bendik Giske, with his first-ever Australian show; and Shanghai’s 33EMYBW with visual artist Joey Holder, another Adelaide exclusive commissioned by Unsound and Illuminate.

The second night on 20 July straddles the line between experimental, pop, ambient and noise. Kim Gordon – formerly a member of Sonic Youth – appears with a band to present her brilliant new album The Collective. The night is full of Adelaide exclusives, including Leyland Kirby, who performs his first, long awaited show in Australia as The Caretaker; ∈Y∋ – fka EYE of Boredoms and Naked City – who performs with visuals by C.O.L.O; and Peruvian experimental duo Laura Robles and Ale Hop, presenting Agua Dulce. Opening is Yirinda, combining ancient Aboriginal language with sublime modern production.

Compacted into one Saturday night on 20 July, the 2024 Unsound Adelaide Club features a fabulously fun lineup with a live show from Detroit outfit HiTech, combining footwork, slippery techno and rap; Manuka Honey, colliding club genres from across the globe; Hyperdub affiliate Lee Gamble, with an exclusive Adelaide set; and Crescendoll, a Gamilaraay woman and Gadigal based DJ, flirting with jersey, footwork, hard drum and more.

Once again, you can find tickets and the full lineup on the Illuminate Adelaide website, with detailed info on all artists.
