Since 2006, Mark McGuire has been guitarist for the trio Emeralds - one of the most prolific and interesting bands around right now. Like his other band members, he has also put out scores of solo records, sometimes in extremely limited runs. In 2010, he started releasing on the Editions Mego label (along with Emeralds). This means that McGuire is getting the distribution - and attention - that he deserves.

For someone so young, his abilities as a guitarist are staggering, and something to behold live. Via kosmiche patterns, pastoral guitar passages and washes of noise and synths, McGuire completely immerses the listener. The result is transporting.

McGuire releases a new album with Mego at the end of September. Called "Get Lost," it's his first proper follow-up to 2010's "Living With Yourself."
