Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never, uses vintage synthesizers and samples to create music sitting somewhere between ambient and drone, fracturing and reflecting the sounds of the past to create something new. 2010’s “Returnal” was followed by “Replica,” acclaimed as one of the most important releases of 2011.

Tim Hecker is a Canadian musician and sound artist, whose work has been called “structured ambient,” “tectonic color plates” and “cathedral electronic music.” Pitchfork praised 2011’s “Ravedeath 1972” as "a dark and often claustrophobic record that is arguably Hecker's finest work to date" and confirmed his position as one of the most important artists on the contemporary electronic music scene.

In the spring of 2012, Hecker and Lopatin came together at Mexican Summer's facilities in Brooklyn to record. Their upcoming LP will be the first in the SSTUDIOS series to be released on Software, focusing on out/free jazz/electronic collaborations and co-curated by Lopatin and C Spencer Yeh. Before the album drops, Hecker and Oneohtrix Point Never will present a special sneak peak of the fruits of their collaboration with a world premiere at Unsound Festival Krakow. Coming at a time when both these artists are riding a peak of creativity, this event is sure to be a high point in our anniversary program.
