Amos Poe

Poe is a Godfather of modern American Indy cinema, as well as a
leading figure of the No Wave Cinema movement that grew out of the
East Village art scene in the late 70s and early 80s. It was connected
to the punk music explosion and included filmmakers such as Jim
Jarmusch, Abel Ferrara and Eric Mitchell. He directed The Blank
Generation, the definitive punk film, as well as Alphabet City and
many music videos for bands such as Run DMC and Anthrax. Apart from
directing and writing many other films over the past 20 years, Poe
recently made Empire II, a "re-make" of Warhol's Empire. This film is
included in the Unsound program as part of the Warhol series, as a
natural follow up to the Empire screening / performance.
