Joy Orbison is one of the most talked producers around right now, blending different genres, such as house, garage, UK funky and dubstep, to create a hypnotic hybrid. He is best known for his club anthem “Hyph Mngo”, released on Scuba’s Hotflush label. It was voted no. 1 single of 2009 by Fact Magazine, and came in at no. 23 in Resident Advisor’s top 100 tracks of the 2000’s.
He will make his national debut at Unsound’s Bass Mutations night on 23.10.2010. Focusing on the most innovative music to have emerged from the fractured, evolving scene formally known as dubstep, the last part of the series took place in Brooklyn at Bunker, as part of Unsound Festival New York.
James Blake is also a name on everyone’s lips, having released some of the most exciting tracks of 2010, twisting and bending the dubstep style into an astonishing, at times sublime meeting of styles. He’s also known for performing live with Mt Kimbie. With just a few records released, he’s managed to create a reputation for having a singular voice. As with Joy Orbison, this is a Polish debut.
Here’s a reminder that Actress is also appearing at Unsound Krakow. Attention: this is NOT a DJ set, and will mark Actress’s first ever live show in Poland. Actress’s new album Splazsh will be released very soon by Honest Jon’s Records and should cause, well, quite a splash. As with James Blake, if you don’t know much about him yet, you soon will.
More names and news coming soon. Stay tuned!
